In November 2017, we decided to escape the foggy weather in Austria and booked a hotel in Porec, located on the Istrian Peninsula in Croatia, where pleasant autumn weather was forecasted.
At the end of the first wave of COVID-19, with borders reopening, Andrea and I decided to travel to Croatia. It was a welcome escape from the lockdowns.
I started early that day, but the strong Bora winds made it difficult, so I decided to delay my ride and embrace the full heat of the day. My goal was to reach Vidova Gora, the highest point on the island of Brac.
If you don't have time to explore the whole island, just ride a part of it and return for breakfast. That's exactly what I did before renting a boat for some days on the water.
It was my first stay on the island of Brac, though I'd visited Milna several times by boat. We stayed at the Milna Osam Hotel, located right at the entrance of the harbor bay, in the heart of the town.
In July 2024, I planned another Italy-Croatia vacation, hoping for a smoother experience after last year's trip was abruptly cut short by a crash in Tuscany.
In September 2019, as I approached my 50th birthday, I decided to celebrate this milestone in a special way—by checking off a major item on my bucket list: Sveti Jure, the highest mountain in Croatia.
