CX breakfastBol - Brac
It was my first stay on the island of Brac, though I'd visited Milna several times by boat. We stayed at the Milna Osam Hotel, located right at the entrance of the harbor bay, in the heart of the town.
I planned to stay in shape for my upcoming trip to the US in August, so I decided to do a few rides despite the limited road network on Brac. For one ride, I chose a loop on my cyclo-cross bike heading towards Bol, famous for its Golden Horn beach.
I left the hotel early, just after sunrise, to avoid the midday heat, following the coastline with a great view of Hvar. After 12km, the gravel road didn't lead all the way to Bol, so I faced a steep 600m climb, with loose gravel that made it quite challenging, and a strong Bora wind made it not easier. The first part of the climb included several tunnels built for military submarines.
At the top, the road switched to smooth tarmac, offering a fun descent with some switchbacks. Reaching Farska, I picked up another gravel road that led me directly to Bol. After a quick breakfast, I climbed back up the official road giving me a look onto Sv Jure i did a few years ago. From here i was passing the local airport along the way up to Vidova Gora Forest. The conditions were tough, and I had to give it my all, riding on a mix of surfaces.
The final stretch took me through Nerezisca before returning to Milna. What I thought would be an easy downhill was a struggle, as the path was covered with large loose stones. Despite the challenge, I finally reached tarmac and rolled back into Milna, having completed almost 2,000 meters of climbing. Overheated but satisfied, I cooled off in the sea.
