Sea Otter Up Day1 2024
It is always nice to be in Monterey as long the weather is nice – so in 2024. During the show it is common for us to ride up and down with the bicycle, depeniding on which you have.
Helge, our GM in the San Clemente office, is known for his expertise with special bicycles. Honestly, I believe he's the strongest of us, as I wouldn’t want to ride his bike! A year ago, I had a folding road bike, but this time I brought Betty along – and it turned out to be a great decision.
The ride up to Laguna Seca, the famous race track with its iconic Corkscrew section, is the perfect way to start the day. It’s only an 18 km ride, but the steady ascent from Monterey is an ideal warm-up before a big event like the Sea Otter show. You begin by hitting a bike path that takes you along the coast, passing the harbor eastward.
As you cross Monterey State Beach and reach Del Monte Heights, you make a right turn and follow the road toward Del Rey Oaks. From there, we took a quieter back entry, which starts off flat before gradually climbing. The official entrance gets steeper and more winding, and after almost 400 meters of ascent, you reach the Laguna Seca area.
It was a great way to warm up before starting the day at our booth!
