Monterey 17 Miles Drive
2023 was the first time i did visit Sea Otter in Monterey. Quite foggy in the morning the outcome of nice rides was limited. I had some open points here and so in 2024 i gave it another try.
Arriving by truck and trailer from our office, I had Betty with me this time. On our arrival day, we decided to make the most of it and went out for a ride. Brian and I started the Sea Otter 2024 week in style, enjoying one of the most beautiful loops I've ever ridden.
We set off from our hotel in the center of Monterey, riding through Pacific Grove, Pacific Grove Acres, and onto Country Club West. The winding coastal road offered stunning views, passing charming houses and picturesque spots like China Rock Vista Point.
The first part of our loop followed the famous 17-Mile Drive along the peninsula, ending near Carmel Bay at Pebble Beach. We stopped to admire the iconic Lone Cypress tree, perched alone on a rock.
To add some extra mileage, we included a climb up to Jack’s Peak, which featured more winding roads and a great view down to Monterey. On the way back, we passed the local airport and returned through Del Monte, eventually reaching our hotel in the heart of town. We wrapped up the ride with a well-deserved espresso from a nearby Starbucks, capping off a beautiful day.
