Las Vegas - RedRock touching theStrip, theShpere and theSnow
During another trip to Las Vegas with Betty, we planned a scenic ride to Red Rock Canyon, known for its stunning red rock formations just outside the city. The occasion was the AIM Expo.
Although the weather forecast predicted cold and rainy conditions, we decided to go ahead with our plan, hoping to avoid the worst of it.
Dominik, our OEM manager, and I were already in Las Vegas, and we met with our U.S. team outside the city. Brian, our national sales manager, joined us for the ride. Starting at 8°C with cloudy skies, we set off with a steady, moderate 20km ascent. We began from a parking area in Summerlin South, near Bear’s Best Golf Course.
As we entered Red Rock Valley, we were captivated by the breathtaking rock formations, featuring an array of shapes, sizes, and shades of red. The valley's constant incline brought us to colder temperatures, and by the time we reached an elevation of about 1400 meters, we were at the snowline from the previous day's precipitation. We even managed to build a little snowman at the top.
However, the weather soon worsened, and rain started to fall, making our descent tricky in 4°C temperatures. We continued on, wet and shaking, as we descended out of the valley. Once the rain stopped, we still had more than half of our tour to go, but the ride was mostly downhill, so we pushed on to warm up and head back to Vegas.
Back in the city, we took some time for sightseeing, including a photo at the iconic Las Vegas sign. We also visited The Sphere, a new attraction—a 100-meter diameter ball covered in thousands of LEDs, with a massive screen and loudspeakers inside. It’s a stunning venue and, just a few days later, we would be there for a U2 concert.
