Mexico City to Desierto de los Leones
After Riding on all continents and in a lot of countries, this was the first location i really had respect in regard to safety and crime. No clue about Mexico City i realized the day before visiting a potential distribution partner in a very strange district that this city might be dangerous.
Nevertheless without a little thrill it is boring. I decided to go south west and missed even starting Strava because of my internal stress. But i found a route that was through the more high advanced areas of Mexico City and had a chill ride. Only thing i was wondering was that i had a hard breath. Yes it was hilly, sometimes steep, but i felt a bit strange to find out afterwards that Mexico City is already on 2.300 m altitude and i went up to over 3000m - nice training effect. So no wonder as temperatures around 30° did their part to it. Just reaching my destination - Desierto de los Leones - i felt like in Wienerwald but just for a few kilometers to do the descent back to downtown afterwards. In summary i never was in trouble and if you go with the flow in traffic it is no big issue. Bike lanes help to lead your way in the city.
