Rettenbachferner

Three days after my Timmelsjoch climb, another opportunity arose amidst promotion activities to take on a second ride. This time, I chose the road leading to the glacier.

Although not as high as Timmelsjoch, it was more challenging due to its steeper gradients, averaging nearly 10% with peaks of around 17%.
With clear weather, I began the climb through forested switchbacks. After 7 km, I passed the toll gate and emerged above the tree line, navigating a steep valley with a few switchbacks along the way. Having traveled this road many times during my professional snowboarding days, I was familiar with it, but I could still feel the climb's difficulty in my legs, especially after the Timmelsjoch ride.
Reflecting on the Ötztal Marathon participants, I realized that completing even a portion of the ride with the historical bike displayed at our booth would have been an extreme challenge.
