Laaben im Walde
When it comes to hilly terrain and gaining significant elevation, the Wienerwald is an ideal choice.
This particular ride started with Hochroterd as the first climb, which is perfect when there's a west wind, as it provides some shelter while heading in that direction. After tackling the "kleiner Semmering," I enjoyed a nice descent with some switchbacks leading to Pressbaum. From there, the real challenge began—a 9 km climb to Hochstraß, the highest point of the loop.
A thrilling, high-speed downhill followed, ending in Altlengbach, where I turned onto a scenic road heading towards Laaben im Walde. This spot marked the turning point of the loop and the beginning of another enjoyable climb. Reaching the top at Forsthof, I was rewarded with a long, steady descent all the way to Alland, where the backwind helped boost my speed.
The ride wasn’t over yet, though. I tackled the climbs to Dörfl and then to Schwarzensee, both great for achieving a solid training effect. To round things off, there were three smaller hills to cross after passing Heiligenkreuz, followed by a descent through Einöde. The combination of ups and downs through nature made for a truly rewarding ride.
