early Taichung Bikeweek 23

The typhoon that had hit the country the day before with strong winds was on its way to China, but it was still a bit windy. Despite the weather, I decided to get up early and go for another ride.

I headed towards the same area I had ridden two days earlier, but this time, I planned a longer loop, going deeper into the forest. The effects of the typhoon were visible throughout the ride, with fallen trees even damaging cars in the city. I followed the same small, windy roads, but this time there was an additional climb at the beginning, which led me to a descent into the valley connected to Jiucengtou. Instead of continuing there, I turned left towards Choutengkeng, where I faced a longer climb with a few switchbacks, reaching an elevation of 600 meters in Nanhuazhang.
After a short downhill section, I enjoyed a flat stretch until Daoijiao, followed by a nice descent toward Taichung. As I got closer to the city, traffic picked up again, but the route was mostly downhill. The road ran alongside the Dajia River, the fifth-longest river in Taiwan.
As I got closer to the city center, the ride became more hectic, racing with scooters at traffic lights. Eventually, I made it to Starbucks for a well-deserved breakfast, completing another successful ride before heading to the show.
